Miss Kayla Robert, a 2016 contestant has been selected to host the 2016-17 Miss Black and Gold Scholarship Pageant set for November 10 at 7:00 p.m. in the Opal Johnson Smith Auditorium at Prairie View A&M University.
Kayla is a 20-year-old junior Electrical Engineering major from Houston, Texas. She is on the Dean's List as well as a Prairie View A&M University Distinguished Scholar. She is the former Miss University College 2014-2015, a member of the Purple Jackets, the National Society of Black Engineers, a General Electric Power Intern as well as the current Vice President of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers.
The 31st Annual Pageant, themed The Harlem Renaissance: Queens take on Harlem, features Nakia Alomaja, Madelyn Bartley, Arieonna Cage, Moriah Colbert, Kaneshia Davis, Marilyn Dunn, Kyasia Fields, Nikisha Francois, Olivia Johnson, Jade Morris, Nia Scott, Jada Vaughn-Olajide and Terika Williams.
Two ladies will be selected, one as Miss Black and Gold Eta Gamma and Miss Black and Gold Epsilon Tau Lambda. They will represent that chapters at the Texas Council of Alpha Chapter Miss Black & Gold competition February 18 in Houston.
